Surrounded by Seto Inland Sea and the Shikoku mountains, Ehime Prefecture is a place where you can enjoy both seafood and mountain food. The production of citrus fruits is the highest in Japan. It has good transportation access to cities such as Tokyo and Osaka, and is visited by many tourists not only from Japan but also from overseas.
Famous places / spots recommended by locals
Dogo Onsen
Dogo Onsen is one of the most famous sightseeing spots in Ehime. It is the oldest hot spring in Japan and is visited by many tourists from home and abroad . It is said to have become the model for the oil shop that appears in "Spirited Away", an animated movie.
Shimanami Kaido sea route
The so-called "Shimanami Kaido" connects Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture and Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is the only place in Japan where you can ride a bicycle on the highway in service and is loved by cyclists all over the world.

Tai Meshi (Sea bream rice)
Local cuisine using seafood, sea bream, from Ehime. It is almost always lined up at the table for celebrations. It is also recommended to eat it as Ochazuke.

Jakoten (Minced fish tempura)
A traditional dish of fried fish paste. Slightly grill it over the fire and then have it with some grated radish and soy sauce, is the basic way to eat Jakoten. However, you can eat it in many other ways, such as eating it with udon or soba.
