Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB)
Bangladesh nationals who graduated from Japanese universities formed the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB) on 29 September 2000 with the intention of forging and fostering the bonds of friendship and amity not only among the JUAAB members but also between the peoples of Bangladesh and Japan. The JUAAB members spent a valuable part of their life in Japan pursuing higher studies that enabled them to understand the social, cultural and moral heritage of the Japanese people along with their academic pursuit. So, the JUAAB members are the most effective agents for the exchange of academic knowledge, socio-cultural practices and long-standing relationships between Bangladesh and Japan.
JUAAB has been organizing classes on Japanese language and culture, as well as Ikebana. Also, it provides counseling services to those who are interested in studying in Japan by an Education Advisor from the Japanese Embassy. Other main JUAAB activities are as follows:
- Arranging Japanese Language Proficiency Tests (JLPT)
- Arranging the Japanese Speech Contest in cooperation with Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation
- Arranging orientation programs about the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) scholarship.
The Japanese Universities Alumni Associations of the South Asian countries viz. Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka established the South Asian Associations of the Japanese Universities Alumni Associations (SAFJUAA) on 29 March 2005 with the objective of maintaining links with the Japanese Universities Alumni Associations of the South Asian Countries, and interacting with their members for carrying out activities of mutual interests and benefits.
