Overview of University of Yamanashi

The University of Yamanashi, under the slogan “Creating the Backbone of the Community and Developing Citizens of the World,” aims to develop human resources who can response the demand for the region and to nurture human resources with expertise so that they can play an active role in the world.

University of Yamanashi is composed of four faculties, which are "Facultie of Education", "Facultie of Engineering" , "Facultie of Life and Enviormental Sciences", and "Facultie of Medicine". In Graduate school, there are "Graduate School of Education" in Faculty and graduate school course, and "Integrated Graduate School of Medicine, Engineerring, and Agricultural Sciences", which is combining the medical, engineering, and bioethical studies. Also, we have a wide range of research fields, and are conducting feature education and studies, such as "Wine" research of the specialty in Yamanashi, "Clean energy" and "Fuel cell" leading the hydrogen energy era, "Develpment engineering" promoting world-class integrated research and development.


Characteristics of the Region

University of Yamanashi is located in the northern suburbs of Kofu city, the prefectural capital, also located about a 15 miniute walk to north from Kofu Station. In the south, there is Mt.Fuji, which is the tallest and most beautiful mountain in Japan. Also It is located in a scenic natural environment overlooking the Southern Alps mountain range to the west.  

Kofu City is located in just 110 km from west of Tokyo, and can be reached from the center of Tokyo in about an hour and a half by limited express train, making it a very convenient place to live.
