What we can offer at Nara Women’s University
Nara Women’s University is one of the two national women’s universities in Japan. Since its foundation in 1908, we have fulfilled our role as an institute providing women with original education at the highest level.
As a close-knit community with approximately 2,700 students and 200 faculty members spread across the four faculties of Letters, Science, Human Life and Environment, Engineering, and the Graduate School of Humanities and Sciences, Nara Women’s University is proud to offer a uniquely tailored educational approach to its students. Moreover, we are planning to set up Faculty of Engineering for the very first time in history of women’s university in Japan.
A short walk from the campus, world famous tourist destinations such as Todaiji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine and Nara Park, home to many deer, will invite you into the world of ancient Japanese history and its rich culture.
While located in such a tranquil surroundings, NWU is easily accessible; only five minutes’ walk from Nara Station.
Campus life in NWU
The campus is really rich in nature that students can appreciate its calm environment, sometimes presently surprised by sudden appearance of deer.
We are also very proud that our cafeteria won the highest satisfaction level among all universities in Japan in 2019.
We cordially invite you to study with us in this historic and relaxed environment.
